Meet Lissette
The Malden we all know is one of hard workers and strong families. I know, because my family is one of them.
It's time that we get back to the basics and build a Malden today for the families and individuals who live here now. With transparency and collaboration, we can strengthen the foundations of what make our city vibrant and attractive for our residents today.
We need a Malden that equitably treats all of our wards. We need a Malden that listens to all voices and different languages. We need a Malden that invites everyone to have a seat at the table to actively participate in their city.
I grew up in a diverse, working class factory town right outside Chicago's west side. I'm a Latina that learned from my hardworking parents that consistency, perseverance, and grit are the combination to reach your dreams. I have dedicated my entire professional life to public service, working in government and with constituents. I have worked in the U.S. Senate for Barack Obama, and at the White House during the Obama administration. Meeting with constituents has always been my top priority as a staffer on the Hill and in the White House.
My husband, Chris, and I moved to Malden twelve years ago. We have set down roots here. We are raising our four kids here, and we are a proud Malden Public Schools' family with all four attending school at the Early Learning Center, Ferryway School, and the Beebe School. We are a proud special education family too, and have gotten to know the amazing special education teams at each of these schools, as well as at Forestdale School and Salemwood School.
As an advocate in Malden, I have spent the last three years speaking for greater access to parks, full decontamination from lead and installation of living green grass at Roosevelt Park, environmental justice, tenants rights, and for increased transparency with the charter school.
And here I am now. Running to be the first female Mayor of Malden as a positive, progressive alternative for this office. Lets quit the political games and get to work!
